  内容简介

Microwave filters are essential components in wireless systems from mobile base stations to satellite payloads. On the one hand, the design and synthesis of two-port microwave filters is generally an established art. This talk will first give an overview of what is involved in designing a microwave filter and some widely used synthesis methods. On the other hand, microwave filter technologies have seen rapid and significant advancements in the recent years, enabled by new materials and fabrication processes, new circuit concepts or new design methods. This talk will discuss several selected research fronts such as multi-port filtering networks, integrated filtering-antennas and reconfigurable filters. The recent development of filter technologies is also a result of application pull from the next generation mobile communications and advance satellite systems. This talk will also hope to provide some application backgrounds.

  报告人简介

Dr Yi Wang received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree in physics from the University of Science and Technology Beijing in 1998 and 2001 and the Ph.D. degree in electronic engineering from the University of Birmingham, U.K. in 2005. He had worked at Birmingham as a Research Fellow between 2004 and 2011 before joining University of Greenwich, U.K. as a Senior Lecturer and then Reader in Microwave Engineering. Dr Wang is a Senior Member of IEEE. His research has been concerning emerging microwave and mm-wave device technologies enabled by unconventional materials (e.g. superconductors, ferroelectrics, meta-materials) and advanced fabrication process (e.g. micromachining, MEMS). His current research interests include multi-role microwave circuits and their co-design, multi-port filtering networks, antennas, mm-wave and THz devices for metrology, communications and sensors. His research is mainly funded by industry and the UK Research Councils.
