HaiHUANGreceivedhisPh.D.inPhysiologyfromtheChineseUniversityofHongKong,HongKongSpecialAdministrativeRegion,in2003.HereceivedhisundergraduatedegreefromtheNanchangUniversity,China,in1993andhismasterdegreeofscienceinCellBiologyfromtheChineseAcademyofSciences,China,in1997.HethenjoinedthefacultyofSchoolofLifeSciencesin1996andwasappointedlecturerin1999.
Thecurrentresearchofhisgroupfocusesoncellularsignalingtransductionnetworksinitiatedbystress.OneprogramisdesignedtoaddressthemolecularpathogenesisofParkinson’sdiseaselinkedtoalpha-synucleinmutationandAlzheimer’sdisease.Thesecondprojectistoinvestigatethephysiologicalresponseofcelltotrichosanthin,aribosomeinactivatingproteinisolatedfromtheChinesemedicinalherbTrichosantheskirilowiiMaximowicz.
