研究方向：[1] 昆虫分类与系统进化；主要开展鞘翅目，隐翅虫科：蚁甲亚科和苔甲亚科的形态分类与系统发育研究。
[2] 古昆虫学、古生态学；研究对象为中生代缅甸琥珀中的昆虫（主要是蚁甲和苔甲亚科），为揭示早期物种的形态发生和物种间演化关系提供证据。

个人简介：
殷子为，博士，副研究员；擅长领域为昆虫分类学和古昆虫学；自2009年以来，出版学术专著1部，发表学术论文98篇，发现并正式发表隐翅虫新属16个，新种250余种，填补了我国在该领域的研究空白，为后续深入研究打下了良好基础。2015年报道缺翅虫目1新种—海南缺翅虫新、2017年报道产于上海本地的西郊公园毛角蚁甲，引起一定的社会反响。
