王建磐男，1949 年 1月 2 日生于福建省古田县。
现任华东师范大学校长、数学系教授、博士生导师，兼任国际数学联盟数学教育委员会执行委员会成员、中国数学会常务理事、上海市数学会副理事长。

简历：　　
1967 年高中毕业，后曾插队农村，当过中学民办教师和县剧团编剧。1978 年靠自学考取华东师范大学数学系研究生，
1981 年获理学硕士学位并留校工作，
1982 年考取本校在职博士研究生并于当年获得理学博士学位，是我国首批 18 位自己培养的博士之一。
1986 年聘为副教授，
1991 年聘为教授。
1989 年至 1990 年在美国 Virginia 大学任访问副教授。回国后历任华东师范大学数学系副主任、主任、华东师范大学副校长。
1997 年 2 月起任华东师范大学校长。　　

科研成果：　　
主要研究领域为代数群与量子群，在代数群的模表示和量子群的表示理论上均有重要建树。他在代数群理论上的研究论文被国内外同行频繁引用，为国际上这一领域的发展做出了贡献。王建磐在量子群研究上也做出重要贡献。他与美国 Virginia 大学数学系 Brian Parshall 教授进行了至今已长达 10 年的合作，在量子群的结构、表示、上同调以及有关的问题上均有独到的见解，尤其擅长用坐标代数及其余模的观点研究量子群及其表示。他们的成就在国际学术界产生了很大的影响。王建磐现为代数群与量子群方面国内的学术带头人，主持国家自然科学基金重点项目“量子群与代数群”，并曾得到国家自然科学基金优秀中青年人才专项基金的资助。
