内容提要：
Abstract: This lecture will look at global trends in entrepreneurship and whether in some countries people show more interest in becoming an entrepreneur than in others. The lecture will review major theories of entrepreneurship and examine evidence for the influence of a range of different factors on why people choose to launch new businesses. These factors include the importance of personal and family background, skills and experience, the opportunities to leverage support from business networks and other entrepreneurs, and the desire of many people to gain a greater sense of independence and control over their own careers. It will also look at the influence of over-optimism, and look at whether some people end up disappointed because they expect to achieve more success than is realistic for the business they have launched.
