Feifang Hu is Professor of Statistics at George Washington University. His research interests include adaptive design of clinical trials, bootstrap methods, and bioinformatics. His co-authored book “The Theory of Response-Adaptive Randomization in Clinical Trials” is well-known in the field. He is an elected fellow of the American Statistical Association (ASA) and of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS), and a CAREER award recipient from the US National Science Foundation. He has served on the editorial boards of Annals of Statistics and JASA. He is currently a QienRen (****) professor at Renmin University.内容提要:
In today’s clinical trials, we are facing many new challenges. Many new designs of clinical trials have been proposed and studied to deal with these new problems in the past ten years. In this talk, we will discuss three types of designs: (i) Response-adaptive design, which uses accruing data to change treatment assignment sequentially for achieving some important objectives (efficient, ethical, cost and others) in clinical trials; (ii) Families of covariate-adaptive designs, which can be used to balance many important covariates; and (iii) a family of covariate-adaptive designs to balance continuous covariates. Some advantages of these three types of designs are discussed.
