Abstract: The technical and environmental efficiency of farmer’s fertilization is explored and estimated in this paper. According to the characteristics of agricultural production and market, the DEA model is apply to calculate the technical and environmental efficiency of fertilization in the first step; in the second step, maximum likelihood techniques (MLE) and other two types of regression models (random effect regression and fixed effect regression) are used to estimate against a variety of technology, physical environment and management variables, based on the panel data of fixed farm households survey carried out by the Price Bureau of Jiangsu Province in the middle of Jiangsu province from 2001 to 2003. Policy suggestions are given according to the conclusion from the empirical exploration.
