Dr. Zhi Wang is an assistant professor of economics at Fudan University. She is an applied economist with research interests in the fields of Urban Economics and Labor Economics. She works on inter-city labor mobility decisions in the U.S. as well as land and housing markets in urban China. Dr. Wang received her Ph.D. from Brown University.
内容提要：
This paper examines the decision of the private land developer as to whether he violates the regulatory upper limit of floor area ratio (FAR). We use a unique data set of land parcels matched with residential development projects from nine major Chinese cities. Results suggest that although market incentives tend to drive developers to add more floors in more desirable locations to better capture the value of land, FAR regulations often bind their FAR decisions in housing construction.
