主讲人简介：

王永进，1983年出生，南开大学国际经济贸易系，经济学博士，讲师。主要研究方向为：制度与国际贸易、产业集聚、异质性企业贸易理论等方面。在《经济研究》、《管理世界》、《经济学季刊》、《世界经济》、《金融研究》等国内权威期刊发表论文二十余篇。主持国家自然科学基金等多项课题。担任《经济研究》、《经济学季刊》、《世界经济》、《数量经济技术经济研究》、《南开经济研究》、《经济评论》和《南方经济》、Review of Development Economics(Special Issue)、International Economic Journal等期刊的匿名审稿人。

内容提要：

This paper links firms' endogenous quality choice to worker effort and efficiency wages. The model generates two distinct features: effort is rewarded and quality is rewarded. Then firms with higher monitoring accuracy pay higher wages. When trade is opened, while bad jobs with low wages and low rents are destroyed, good jobs are created. Nevertheless, unemployment could either rise or fall, depending on the structure of monitoring cost and on the share of exporting firms. These results contrast sharply with the literature, and are consistent with empirical evidence.
