He received B.Sc. in Mathematics (1977) and Ph.D. in Information Sciences (2002) from Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj- Napoca, Romania. His current research interests include different aspects of Artificial Intelligence, Applications of Fuzzy Logic and Distributed Computing. He has published two books, 12 courses and materials for students and more than 60 scientific papers in journals and conferences proceedings. He was member of the Program Committee of more than 60 international conferences and he has edited 4 conference proceedings. He is co-founder and A. Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Computers, Communications & Control (covered in Science Citation Index Expanded since 2006 and in JCR since 2009) and also co-founder and General Chair of International Conference on Computers Communications and Control (since 2006). He is an IEEE Senior Member since 2011, past vice-president of the Romanian Society of Applied and Industrial Mathematics (1996-2011) and member of the Management Scientific Society of Romania.
