Dr.Saeid(Adam)PirastehholdsaprofessorshippositionattheFacultyofGeosciencesandEnvironmentalEngineering(FGEE),SouthwestJiaotongUniversity,China.HeisalsoaResearchScientistattheMobileSensingandGeodataAnalyticsLab,UniversityofWaterloo.Since2017,heistheAcademicNetworkMemberoftheUnitedNationsCommitteeofExpertsonGlobalGeospatialInformationManagement(UN-GGIM).Hecollected20yearsofexperienceinresearch,development,andteachingatvariousuniversitiesinmanycountries.Saeidisadynamicresearcherwithdiversityhorizon.

HeobtainedhisBachelor'sDegreeinGeology(1998),Master'sDegreeinAppliedGeologywithRemoteSensing(2000),andPh.D.DegreeinGeologyspecializedinRemoteSensingandGIS(2004)allfrom,India.Later,SaeidhasalsoreceivedhissecondPh.D.DegreeinGeography,specializedinGeoanalytics,Geospatial,andLiDARtechnologiesfromtheUniversityofWaterloo,Canada.

HehassupervisedtwentyPh.D.andM.Sc.studentsinternationallythattheyarenowcontributingtothevariousprofessionalinstitutesandindustriessuchasGIScience,Geomatics,machinelearningandartificialintelligence.Heworkedwithundergraduate,graduatestudentsandlearnerswithdiversityinculture,religion,nationality,age,andethnicityfromseveralcountriessuchasCameron,Canada,China,Jordan,India,Iraq,Iran,Malaysia,Sudan,Thailand,UAE,UK,US.

ResearchInterests
Hisresearchskillsareinmulti-disciplinaryprofessionalsofGIScience,RemoteSensing,andGeomaticswithingeography,EarthandenvironmentalSciencedisciplines.HefocusesonRemoteSensingandGISofGeoenvironmentalhazardsanddisastersreductionandmanagement,Geospatialinfrastructurestructure,urbanandchangedetection,implementationoftheUN-SDGs2030,geodataanalytics,geospatialanalysisofgeohazards,imageanalysisandinterpretation,mappingandmodelling,LiDARpointcloudprocessingandanalysis,UAVdatacapturingandprocessing,webandcloud-basedapplicationsdevelopmentofrelatedprofessionals,PythonandMatlabprogramming.Heisalsointerestedinintegratingcomputervision,artificialintelligence,andmachinelearningandroboticappliedinGISceincesandgeomaticsdisciplinesandapplicationsbeyond.
