3月31日，中国国家英文日报《中国日报》第7版整版刊发四川大学报道，对学校的学术科研最新成果、科研转化协同创新、文史古籍传承努力以及对海外留学生的吸引力等方面作了深入介绍。报道出刊不久即被Israel Foreign Affairs等多家外媒转载，并在海内外读者中产生广泛影响。

　　整版4篇报道中，“New skills take surgery to higher level”、“Researchers compile complete works of Confucianism”两篇报道分别介绍了川大华西医院“单向式胸腔镜肺叶切除手术”填补国内空白、四川大学古籍整理研究所耗时10余年编纂“千古儒学第一藏”《儒藏》的情况；“SU，Chengdu team up for science park initiative”介绍了川大与成都市投资4个亿打造面向全球的高端人才科研园，院地合作促进科学成果在成都转化的情况；“US student finds it fun to read old Chinese”介绍了近年来在四川大学求学的海外留学生人数不断攀升，从2010年的1445人上升到2014年的2307人等情况。
