四川大学获学士(1983)、硕士(1991)和博士(1996)学位。2017年英国皇家化学会会士,2011年获国家教学名师奖(第六届高等学校教学名师奖),2008年享受国务院特殊津贴,四川省学术和技术带头人。现任中国化学会理事,应用化学学科委员会委员,绿色化学学科委员会委员;中国化工学会理事;四川省化学化工学会理事长,四川大学教授(二级岗)、博士生导师,绿色化学与技术教育部重点实验室主任。国际可持续发展化学合作中心(ISC3)学术委员会成员(德国),英国皇家学会绿色化学系列丛书顾问(RSC Green Chemistry series Editorial Board,Editorial advisor),Current Organocatalysis杂志编委(Editorial Board Member),《化学研究与应用》主编,《天然气化工》、《石油化工》、《应用化工》、《贵金属》刊物等编委。
主要从事物理化学/绿色化学教学科研工作。《绿色化学》国家教学团队负责人,主持编写了国家“十一·五”规划、“十二·五”规划教材,主持建设《绿色化学》国家精品课程、国家双语示范课程和国家资源共享课程。主讲过或正在主讲的课程:绿色化学与化工进展(博),绿色化学与技术(硕)、催化化学基础(硕),微观反应动力学(硕),绿色化学(化本),绿色化学(校公选),催化及研究方法(本),大学化学(本)、物理化学实验(本)等。
围绕资源有效利用和从源头上消除环境污染开展研究工作,目前承担国家重点研发计划项目课题、国家自然科学基金重点项目等研究项目。已发表SCI收录论文320余篇,部分论文发表在Nat. Comm., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., ACS Catal., Green Chem., ChemSusChem, Chem. Eur. J., J. Org. Chem., Appl.Catal. B., Appl.Catal.A, AIChE J., IECR, Adv. Syn. Catal., J. Catal., J. Phys. Chem.等刊物上,论文被引6000余次。已获国家发明专利30余项,10余次获得省部级以上教学科研奖励及荣誉。

主要工作业绩
在生物质转化方面,较为系统地开展了由真实生物质催化转化制备精细化学品和能源材料的研究,发展了由真实生物质原料高选择性合成系列目标化合物(主要为含氧化合物)的溶剂体系和催化剂;发现了木质纤维素类生物质中各组分分子间和分子内化学键在若干溶剂和催化剂作用下的断裂规律;发现了部分生物质原料催化转化过程中复杂反应网络的形成和调控机制,阐明了相关反应的机理;发现了由植物油脂制备航空煤油的新催化剂、催化工艺及相关催化反应机理。在原子经济性反应研究方面,针对芳环C-H键活化与功能化开展了系列工作,发展了苯一步氧化羟基化合成苯酚和一步氨基化合成苯胺的系列新催化剂和新催化工艺,发现了相关C-H键和N-H键的活化规律。在温室气体活化利用方面,发展了系列新型催化剂和工艺过程,尤其是低温甲烷与二氧化碳共活化新催化剂和工艺。
