Abstract: Objective To evaluate the effect of continuous rehabilitation based on a home tele-rehabilitation (HTR) platform on the scars and total active movement (TAM) of joints in patients with hand burns. Methods This was a prospective randomized controlled study, and 80 patients with deep two- and three-degree hand burns who underwent home rehabilitation after discharge were selected. The patients were divided into a telephone group (received routine telephone follow-up guidance, n=38) and an HTR group (received remote video follow-up guidance based on an HTR platform, n=42). The scar scores and joint TAM at weeks 0 (W0), 4 (W4), 12 (W12), and 24 (W24) after wound healing were compared between the two groups. Results The differences in scar scores between the two groups were statistically significant (Fgroup=30.160, P < 0.001), and the scar scores in the HTR group at W12 and W24 were significantly lower than those in the telephone group (both P < 0.001). The differences in the joint TAM between the two groups were also statistically significant (Fgroup=16.988, P < 0.001), and the joint TAM in the HTR group at W4, W12, and W24 were significantly higher than those in the telephone group (all P < 0.05). Conclusion Continuous rehabilitation based on the HTR platform can improve the scars and joint TAM of patients with hand burns and also has a positive effect on anti-scar treatment.
