Abstract: Cardiovascular diseases are an important cause of poor human health and death, globally. Studies have shown that transfer RNA derived fragments (tRFs) play an important role in the occurrence and development of cardiovascular diseases, by participating in the intergenerational inheritance of myocardial hypertrophy, and regulating the proliferation, migration, and phenotypic transformation of vascular smooth muscle. However, the mechanisms underlying the potential role of tRFs in cardiovascular diseases are still unclear and need further investigation. This paper summarizes the classification and biological function of tRFs and reviews the progress of research on tRFs in myocardial hypertrophy, aortic dissection, and phenotypic transformation of vascular smooth muscle cells.
