Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of the A.A. twelve-step facilitation model on improving college students’ internet gaming disorder. Methods A total of 30 college student volunteers who met the enrollment criteria were recruited from a medical college and a normal university in Shenyang. An internet addiction withdrawal association was set up,which carried out the twelve-step facilitation for 12 weeks. Before and after facilitation,the Internet Addiction Scale,Diagnostic Criteria for Online Game Addiction,Symptom Self-rating Scale,College Students’ Spiritual Belief Questionnaire,College Students’ Psychological Needs Network Satisfaction Questionnaire, Simple Coping Style Questionnaire,and Perceived Social Support Scale were used for evaluation. A nonparametric test was used to conduct the before-and-after analysis. Results Thirty enrolled college students completed the twelve-step facilitation as planned. The before and after comparison shows that the degree of addiction,mental health,spiritual belief,psychological needs network satisfaction,positive response ability,and perceived social support level of college students in the experimental group have improved. In the control group without intervention,there was no significant improvement in all scales at week 12 compared with week 1. Conclusion The A.A. twelvestep facilitation model has a significant effect on improving college students’ internet gaming disorder.
