Abstract: Bronchiectasis has an increasing incidence worldwide, but its pathogenesis and molecular mechanism remain unclear, and the traditional sputum microbiological examination is of limited significance in diagnosing the disease. With the emergence of various detection methods, such as 16S rRNA pyrosequencing and analysis of bacterial flora in lung tissues, and length polymorphism polymerase chain reaction analysis, the idea that the lower respiratory tract is usually sterile has been nullified, which helps us better identify related potential pathogens. This review discusses the latest research progress on the lung microbiome in bronchiectasis.
