Abstract: Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of global disability-adjusted life years and death. The most common post-transcriptional mRNA modification is that of N6-methyladenosine (m6A), which has an important role in cardiovascular diseases. This review summarizes key enzymes and the dynamic regulation process of m6A RNA modification. We also focus on the research progress of m6A RNA modification with respect to its role in cardiac hypertrophy, heart failure, hypertension, coronary heart disease, and arrhythmia. Finally, we discuss a new mechanism of m6A RNA modification.
