Abstract: Objective To investigate Raf kinase inhibitor protein (RKIP) expression in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC),and its relationship with NSCLC radiosensitivity. Methods Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the RKIP protein expressions of tissue samples from 106 NSCLC patients prior to radiotherapy. The factors affecting the radiosensitivity of NSCLC were analyzed with multivariate logistic analysis. Results RKIP expression was correlated with NSCLC clinical staging and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05). Moreover,clinical staging and RKIP expression levels were correlated with NSCLC radiosensitivity (P<0.05). Early clinical stage patients with high RKIP expressions had high radiosensitivity,thus RKIP expression was determined as an independent associated factor for NSCLC radiosensitivity. Conclusion RKIP is a key biomarker for evaluating NSCLC radiosensitivity.
