Abstract: Objective To analyze the drainage effect of single-tube drainage after laparoscopic radical surgery for cervical cancer. Methods A total of 87 patients who underwent laparoscopic radical surgery for cervical cancer were divided into single- and double-tube drainage groups (n=29 and 58,respectively). The number of lymph node dissections, drainage effect, and incidence of lymphatic cyst were compared. According to the number of lymph node dissections,87 patients were regrouped to compare the incidence of lymphatic cyst. The relationships between the number of lymph node dissections, total postoperative drainage volume, drainage tube retention time, and incidence of lymphatic cyst were analyzed. Results No significant differences in the total postoperative drainage volume, drainage tube retention time, and incidence of lymphatic cyst were found between the single- and double-tube drainage groups (P>0.05). The number of lymph node dissections in the single-tube drainage group was greater than that in the double-tube drainage group (P<0.05). No significant difference in the incidence of lymphatic cyst was found between the groups with ≥ 31 and <31 lymph node dissections (P>0.05). The number of lymph node dissections and postoperative drainage volume were not related to the occurrence of lymphatic cyst (P>0.05). Conclusions No significant difference in drainage effect was found between single- and double-tube drainage after laparoscopic radical surgery for cervical cancer. Single-tube drainage does not increase the incidence of lymphatic cyst and could be an alternative to double-tube drainage.
Key words: drainage of abdominal wall, single-tube, double-tube, lymph node dissection, lymphatic cyst
