Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of differences in facial morphological between 25-year-old and 60-year-old females of Asian and European descent on ocular light exposure and to provide evidence on light damage protection in the eyes of individuals of different ages. Methods The FaceGen software was used to construct 3D facial morphological models of 25-year-old and 60-year-old females from Asia and Europe. Sun exposure simulation was performed by the 3ds Max software, and the gray value of the pupil of the left eye was extracted as light exposure. Results The blocking effect of the superciliary arch and glabella on ocular light exposure increased with the increase in the solar elevation angle. The simulated gray value of ocular light exposure in the 60-year-old model of European females was greater than that in the 25-year-old model of European;while the difference between the 60-year-old model and the 25-year-old model of Asian females was not significant. Conclusion Owing to differences in facial morphology, the risk of ocular light exposure is greater in the elderly than in the young. The risk of ocular light exposure is also greater in Asians than in Europeans.
