报告内容摘要:
Nonlinearphenomena are ubiquitous in all engineering systems and in most cases regardedas negative factors to system integration and performance improvement. However, the research development on nonlinear dynamics nowadays continuously revealsthat nonlinear phenomena can bring many amazing and advantageous effects invery practical engineering problems such as vibration control, energy harvesting, structure health monitoring, micro/nano-electro-mechanical systems, and so on. Nonlinearitycan be employed in various vibration control, energy harvesting and structurehealth monitoring for achieving advantageous performance. Following the first andsecond seminars, the third and fourth talks will then focus on a briefintroduction to a series of recent advance in exploring nonlinear benefits inengineering: theory, methods and applications. Some R&D activities will beintroduced about a class of bio-inspired anti-vibration structures and theirapplications in passive vibration control, energy harvesting systems, faultdetection and diagnosis and robotics etc, recently investigated in HK PolyU.
