RESEARCH FOCUS
I study the Yangtze River for 10 Years! The evolution of the longest river in Asia, Yangtze, provides a spectacular example to understand the Late Cenozoic interaction between tectonic, climate and surface processes. However, debate on the timing of the Yangtze integration has limited the further understand of these processes, with estimates ranging from 23 to 45 Ma, to a more recent initiation around 1 to 2 Ma. I use various method to study the river sediments (or sedimentary rocks), including petrography, heavy minerals and detrital zircon U-Pb chronology to identify their provenances, and paleomagnetism, paleontology, and volcanic tuff to constrain their ages, as well as the most important field work!
