男,1963年生,安徽省望江人。1985年毕业于长春地质学院地质系,1992年在中国科学院南京地质古生物研究所获博士学位后留所从事研究工作。1997年-1999年获德国马普学会资助在柏林工业大学做客座研究,德国哥廷根科学院外籍通讯院士,中国科学院“百人计划”入选者,国家杰出青年基金获得者。兼任国际地层委员会埃迪卡拉纪地层分会和寒武纪地层分会选举委员,吉林大学客座教授,《古生物学报》编委会副主任,《Palaeogeography,Palaeoclimatology,Palaeoecology》、《PalaeontologiaElectronica》、《科学通报(ChineseScienceBulletin)》、JournalofEarthSciences》、《科技导报》、《古地理学报》、《世界地质》、《生物进化》杂志编委。  在动物起源和寒武纪大爆发研究领域的古生物学、地层学和环境背景等方面取得具有影响力的成果。发表和合作发表论文140余篇、专著2部,联合主编论文集11部。曾获中国科学院“自然科学特等奖”(1997年,第五获奖人),香港求是科技基金会“杰出科技成就集体奖”(1997年),贵州省科技进步二等奖(2003年,第三获奖人),中国古生物学会“尹赞勋地层古生物学奖”(2009)。研究领域:主要从事动物起源和寒武纪大爆发的古生物学、地层学和环境背景的研究。社会任职:获奖及荣誉:承担科研项目情况:
