Biography Biography
Analog VLSI neural networks, biologically inspired (neuromorphic) engineering, image processing, computer vision, pattern recognition, adaptive signal processing, nonlinear spatio-temporal dynamics, circuit theory.
Professor Shi received the BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He received his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley. He joined the ECE Department at HKUST in 1994. He has been as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems-I: Fundamental Theory and Applications twice, and was a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and Chair of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Technical Committee on Cellular Neural Networks and Array Computing.
