Biography Biography
Prof Pan Hui is on leave from HKUST to be the Nokia Chair in Data Science and a full Professor in Computer Science at the University of Helsinki from September 2017.
He received his PhD degree from Computer Laboratory, University of Cambridge, and earned his MPhil and BEng both from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Hong Kong. He is also an adjunct Professor of social computing and networking at Aalto University Finland since 2012. He was a senior research scientist and then a Distinguished Scientist for Telekom Innovation Laboratories (T-labs) Germany from 2008 to 2015. He also worked for Intel Research Cambridge and Thomson Research Paris during his PhD period.
Prof Hui has published over 200 research papers with over 12,500 citations and has 28 granted / filed European and US patents. He has founded and chaired several IEEE/ACM conferences/workshops, and has been serving on the organising and technical program committee of numerous international conferences including ACM SIGCOMM, IEEE Infocom, ICNP, SECON, MASS, Globecom, WCNC, ITC, IJCAI, ICWSM and WWW. He is an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing and IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing, a guest editor for IEEE Communication Magazine, and an ACM Distinguished Scientist.
