Biography Sharonjoined the Department of Rehabilitation Sciencesin 2005. She held the Senior Clinical Associate position before the appointment as Assistant Professor. Sharon has solid clinical and teaching experience in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. She obtained her postgraduate qualifications in Hong Kong, Australia and the United Kingdom, andthe Fellowship (Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy) of the Hong Kong College of Physiotherapy. She has been appointed as the Honourary Senior Physiotherapist at the Physiotherapy Department in hospitals under the New Territories East Cluster of theHospital Authority since 2017.
Sharon 's PhDfocused on studying the dynamic interplay of the cervical and thoracic spine in people suffered from chronic mechanical neck disorder. Her main research interests are on the biomechanics of the human spine with the focus on analysis of the movement and motor control of spine for people with different spinal dysfunction. She is also keen to develop the classification system for the neck dysfunction which would be having a great impact on the clinical practice in managing problems associated with neck pain.
Sharon adopts an integrated approach to facilitate students' learning and helps themapply their knowledge to the clinical reasoning and practice in the field of musculoskeletal physiotherapy. She received the Departmental Outstanding Teaching Award in 2009 and 2018, and the Faculty Award of Outstanding Performance in Teaching in 2018. Sharon is currently serving as the Award Coordinator of the MSc in Manipulative Physiotherapy Program.
