Dr Tulio Maximo is an innovative designer and ergonomist with expertise in people-centred design. Tulio professional aim is to bridge people, institutions and knowledge to improve society collaboratively. His research interests are in intergenerational and inclusive design, social entrepreneurship, and co-designing healthcare and assistive technology services. His previous works included interventions on Brazilian healthcare services and design of awarded products and social enterprise to help including people with disabilities in society.
Tulio has created the elective SD4469 Design Meets Disabilities and also teaches SD3470 Technology 3: Ergonomics, SD2467 Design Research, and SD4001 Cooperative Project. Tulio is a tutor in the Master in Design practice for the SD5409 Capstone Research and SD5410 Design and Make Capstone Project.
His work had received a number of awards from institutions such as IDSA, Banco do Brasil and Royal College of Arts. Dr Maximo has received funding from Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq), Prêmio Fundação Banco do Brasil de Tecnologia Social, and Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos (FINEP).
Before Joining PolyU School of Design, Dr Maximo worked an associate lecturer in Sketching, Service Design, and Ergonomics at Loughborough University, product designer at Instituto Noisinho da Silva, and car designer at COMAU do Brasil (FIAT group).
