Personal profile
Research interestsAt the core, Dr. Ki’s research interests lie in consumer psychology and behavior and linking it to diverse consumption contexts, aimed at identifying the core values and/or emotions of consumers that encourage or discourage their choice decisions. Particular focuses include:
Circular economy and sustainable fashion
Digital retail and marketing: AI-powered services (e.g., AI voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa); influencer marketing; gamification in fashion retail; the role of digital fashion in virtual self presentation; and livestreaming e-commerce.
Luxury fashion: Sustainable luxury; second-hand luxury; and luxury brands' partnership with gaming companies.
TeachingDr. Ki develops class materials that contain both theory and practice. The purpose of maintaining such balance is twofold: Initially, it is to provide students with theoretical knowledge that will help them understand the fashion and apparel industry in general. Second, it is to offer them a realistic sense of what it will be like working as a merchandiser or fashion marketing professionals in the field, so that students can design their future career paths.
