Biography Dr Yip is a researcher in various areas in statistical applications primarily environmental sciences and climatology. Prior to his role in PolyU, he has spent a few years in multiple R&D roles in industry before returning to academia. He was a research scientist in National Centre for Atmospheric Science, a research associate in University of Exeter, a junior member of Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences in Cambridge and a visiting scholar in Duke University. His work on climate uncertainty has been cited by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)’s Fifth Assessment Report. He read mathematics in his undergraduate studies and holds a Doctor of Philosophy from University of Southampton. He is also a Chartered Statistician of the Royal Statistical Society.
