Simon Fan's research interests span the theory and empirics of social economics, labor economics, development economics, and public economics. He has published two scholarly books and about forty papers in refereed journals, including International Economic Review, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Journal of Public Economics, and Review of Economics and Statistics. He is a recipient of several competitive grants for experimental research on education, particularly on the "left-behind" children in rural China.
