Dr. Khin Yee Lo has lived, performed and taught in four continents. She received a Master of Music (MMus) in Performance from the Royal Academy of Music in London where she studied both violin and piano, and Bachelor of Arts (Music) degree with First Class Honours from Bath Spa University. She was awarded the Chancellor’s Fellowship to pursue a Doctorate degree in music education at Indiana University, USA. There, she further won several scholarships and awards in recognition of her outstanding doctoral work. In Australia, she obtained the Graduate Certificate in Education from Griffith University.
Prior to joining full-time in the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts, the Education University of Hong Kong, Khin Yee was a Co-Programme Leader of MMus degree in Performance at the University of West London (Hong Kong Centre). She has also held teaching appointments at Indiana University (USA) and Griffith University Queensland Conservatorium of Music and the Young Conservatorium (Australia). Furthermore, she serves on international music examination boards such as the Australian Music Examinations Board and London College of Music Examinations.
Khin Yee has performed as soloist, accompanist, chamber and orchestra musician. She played in numerous orchestras which gave regular performances in such venues as the Royal Festival Hall, Purcell Room, Barbican Centre and St. John Smith’s Square. Throughout her teaching career, she has also worked extensively with children in schools and has conducted numerous youth string ensembles and orchestras in England, the USA and Australia. She has taught at the prestigious Wells Cathedral School and The Purcell School of Music in England.
Khin Yee has presented her research at numerous international conferences in education and music education. Her publications include a co-authored book chapter in the Handbook of Child Well-Being: Theories, Methods and Policies in Global Perspective (Springer).
