Daphnee is Associate Professor at the Department of Education Policy and Leadership, The Education University of Hong Kong. Her teaching profile includes subjects in the fields of Professional Learning and Professionalism, Research Methods, Social Psychology, and Sociology. Daphnee was a Research Scientist at the National Institute of Education (Singapore), Nanyang Technological University, where she undertook two research projects as Principal Investigator on Professional Learning Communities, and Teacher Professional Identity. Since earning her Ph.D. in Sociology at the Australian National University, Daphnee has published in various journals, including Current Sociology; The Asia-Pacific Educational Researcher; and British Journal of Educational Studies. A book on Managing Chineseness is forthcoming for Daphnee, published under Palgrave Macmillan (UK and US) under their book series Frontiers of Globalization. In this book, she offers theoretical insights on identity management based on the research work she had undertaken to date. Daphnee’s current research interest includes Teacher Professional Identity, Professional Learning Communities, and Professionalism, Sociology of Education, and Broader Context of Education. She seeks from these investigations sociological explanations for the way identities are constructed and exercised, linking individual, social, and organizational experiences to the global political economy of capitalist-industrialization.
