Biography
Prof Eliza Wong is a Registered Nurse of Canada and Hong Kong. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of British Columbia in Canada and then completed her Master of Public Health at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). She further pursed her PhD at CUHK with focus on the implication of Chinese medicine in public health. Also, she is an Accredited Mediator of Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited.

Prof Eliza Wong’s research interests are the patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) including patient experience, health-related quality of life using EQ-5D-5L HK in both individual and health system level. To further enhance patient-centred care, she has done research to prove the validity and sensitivity of HPV self-sampling in order to advocate self-care and enhance the coverage of cervical cancer screening. Prof Wong has rich experiences on surveying and expertise in the area of patient experience on quality of care. In 2009, she has been taken up the responsibility in developing a first locally validated tool for measuring population-based patient experience in collaboration with the University of Oxford in Hong Kong. And she led her research team to conduct the first benchmark patient experience survey in all public hospitals in Hong Kong to inform continuous quality improvement. She was visiting scholar of the School of Public Health, University of Oxford in 2012 to exchange and translate knowledge on patient experiences, satisfaction and PROMs. She obtained a research grant to develop and validate the Hong Kong version of EQ-5D-5L HK for adult and EQ-5D-3L for children, and establish a valuation set for Hong Kong population. In addition, Prof Wong has obtained grant to further improve population health through intergenerational solidarity.

She has published more than 160 papers in peer-reviewed academic journals. She has obtained research grants from local government, Hospital Authority, international academic organizations, donation and pharmaceutical company. She is a core research member of the World Bank Research Hub and Faculty of Health Science of The University of Sydney in 2015. She also serves in the editorial boards of several international scientific journals including Assistant Editor for Hong Kong Journal of Nursing; and as key members of various organizations including Education Bureau, Hong Kong College of Health Service Executive, The Family Planning Association of Hong Kong, etc.
