摘要Vestibular schwannomas (acoustic neuromas) are benign tumours that constitute 8% of all intracranial tumours. Surgical mortality and morbidity is directly proportional to the size of the tumour. Early detection of small vestibular schwannomas is crucial to successful management. Vestibular schwannomas usually present with unilateral audiovestibular symptoms like hearing impairment and tinnitus. Such symptoms are commonly encountered in general family practice. MRI is currently the choice of investigation for screening of suspicious cases. The definitive treatment for sizeable vestibular schwannomas is surgical removal. Management of small tumours however remains controversial.
