You should submit a separate application form along with the supporting documents for each programme.
Submit Online Application

Application Deadline

Different programmes have different application deadlines. Please refer to the application deadlines for details.
Procedures for Online Application
1. After successful submission of your application via the Application for Admission to Postgraduate Programmes, you will
receive an email of "Receipt of Application" including your Application No. Print it for your future reference. If you
see error message(s), please enter the required information according to the instructions.
2. You may go to the Application for Admission to Postgraduate Programmes to perform the following actions.
- Pay application fee in the section "View Application" if you have not settled it during the submission of online
application;
- Amend application information in the section "Amend Application";
- Download forms in the section "Download Forms";
- Submit Confidential Recommendations
Via system: Submit 2 referees' information in the section "My referee(s)" after settling the application fee
and you can check the referees' submission status in the same section.
Your referee will then receive an invitation email to login the Online Confidential
Recommendation System to complete the
Confidential Recommendation / Referee's Report.
By hardcopy: Print Confidential Recommendation Form (2 copies) in the section "Download Forms"
- Upload supporting documents in the section "Upload Supporting Documents”
- Complete an additional form in the section “HKPFS Supplement” (for HKPFS applicants only)
Required Supporting Documents
You should submit the following supporting documents to the relevant Graduate Divisions by the deadline. You should also upload softcopies via the Application for Admission to Postgraduate Programmes (in the section of “Upload Supporting Documents”) before sending out the copies to the Graduate Division. Please always quote the Application no. in your future correspondences.

Official transcripts of all tertiary level studies*; |

Copies of certificates of academic/professional qualifications; |

Score reports/certificates showing you have fulfilled the English language proficiency requirement for admission to the Graduate School; |

Confidential recommendations from two referees respectively*; |

Assessment report from the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) on the level of qualification obtained for degrees awarded by overseas universities by distance learning or by completing a curriculum of short duration. |

Application fee receipt (not necessary for credit card payment through online application system); |

Copies of identity card or passport; and |

Other supporting documents upon request of respective Graduate Divisions. |

The University may require applicants to submit additional information or documentary proof if deemed necessary. |
* Official transcripts and confidential recommendations must reach respective Graduate Divisions directly from the University and referees, or in sealed envelopes and sent by the applicant with other supporting documents to the Graduate Divisions.
Application Fee
The application fee for admission to one postgraduate programme is HK$300. The application fee, once paid, is not refundable. Applicants may choose to pay by credit card or bank draft/cheque. If you pay by bank draft/cheque, please download the “Payment Voucher” in the section “Download Forms” via the Application for Admission to Postgraduate Programmes and send it to the Graduate Division together with the payment.
Selection Process
The Graduate Divisions will begin the selection process upon receipt of the applications. Individual programmes may require applicants to sit an entrance test or attend interviews. Applicants will be notified individually by the Graduate Divisions concerned separately.
Application Result
1. For applicants who apply for PhD programmes through HKPFS, Research Grants Council will announce results by late March
2017.
2. For applicants who apply for MPhil/PhD or taught postgraduate programmes directly with the University (i.e. non-HKPFS
applicants), you may login the Application for Admission to Postgraduate Programmes and check your application results in
the section of “View Application Result”.
Remarks
The information collected from the application form will be used for the following purposes:
1. As a basis for selection of applicants for admission in 2017-18 to postgraduate programmes offered by the University and
other related purposes;
2. For verifying information about the applicant’s public examination results and academic record in relevant institutions in
Hong Kong and elsewhere;
3. For identifying records of previous studies as a student in the University or other institutions;
4. As part of the applicant’s student record upon registration for a programme, which will be used for all purposes relating to
his/her studies in accordance with the procedures of the University; and
5. If necessary, maybe transferred to other units within the University to facilitate verifications, communication, operations
and planning.
