Dr. Chan is currently an Associate Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering. He heavily involves in teaching and student matters for many years. In 1993, the students in the Department voted him one of the best teachers. He also got the Outstanding Teacher Awards of the Department for 17 times during 1999-2018. The criteria for getting the awards are based on students' nomination, the teaching evaluations and portfolio of the staff. He is recognized as a committed and enthusiastic teacher by his department.
Dr. Chan has jointly investigated over 40 externally and internally funded research projects and has published more than 200 papers in international journals and conferences. He is the paper reviewer in a number of reputable international journals, external and internal PhD and Mphil thesis examiner, and has also served as the invited speakers, technical committee members and session chairs in a number of international conferences.
