Train Professionals for the media, other industries and institutions, including:
- Mass media
- Advertising/PR agencies
- PR/marketing communication departments of commercial firms
- Information/publicity departments of governmental or non-profit organizations
- Content divisions of Web/multimedia houses
- Mobile media and other communication-related sectors
To be eligible for admission, you must satisfy the General Entrance Requirements and:

have a Bachelor's degree in communication related areas from a recognized university or equivalent qualification; or
-
have a Bachelor's degree in non-communication-related areas and a minor in communication related areas of studies
Applicants without a major or a minor in communication related areas of studies must have the basic knowledge about media and communication through coursework and an internship in communication related areas for at least three months. Substantive working experience in communication related areas such as a full-time job in a communication related position for at least one year will satisfy the requirement for the basic knowledge about communication.
Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained from an institution where the medium of instruction is not English should also fulfill the following minimum English proficiency requirement:

TOEFL score 550 (paper-based test) or 79 (internet-based test); or

Overall band 6.5 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or
-
Score 450 in the new College English Test (CET-6) of Chinese mainland or a pass in the old CET-6 test; or

other equivalent qualifications

B. Stream Compulsory Courses (9 credits)
Students can specialize in one of the three streams (Digital Media, Media Data Analytics and Visual Media) by completing the required courses prescribed by the stream. The offer of a stream is contingent on the availability of teaching staff and the minimum number of students pre-selecting the stream. In case a stream cannot be offered for an academic year, the Digital Media Stream will be the default stream.

C. Stream Electives (9 credits)

Training in English language skills, as all courses are taught in English with an emphasis on writing and oral presentations

Intercultural experience, as students come from Hong Kong, mainland China, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, and other regions, and teaching staff have extensive working experience overseas.

The programme celebrated its 10th Anniversary in 2008. Graduates from the programme are now working and living in Hong Kong, mainland China, North America, Europe, and other parts of the world. They have formed an alumni association to organize social activities and networking.

Students of the programme won awards three years in a row at the Inter-University Multimedia Design Competitions, in which students from universities in Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan, Macau, Singapore and elsewhere participated.

The teaching staff were ranked No.1 in Communication and Media Studies among universities in Hong Kong in the 2014 Research Assessment Exercise.

Members of teaching staff include world renowned communication scholars such as Prof Chin Chuan Lee, Prof Jonathan Zhu and Dr Zhou He.
