Dr. Xiao Ping Zhou earned his first Ph D. from Xiamen University and second Ph D. from University of California Santa Barbara. He once worked at Symyx Technologies (a Sunnyvale company) as an associate Scientist, at GRT Inc. (Santa Barbara company) as chief scientist and co-founder, and at Microvast Inc. (Texas company) as Chief scientist and co-founder. He joined Hunan University as Professor of Chemical Engineering since April ,2002. He had been the associate deanof College of Chem. and Chem. 研究领域
Our present investigations are oriented to discover or develop new cathode/anode electrode materials for lithium ion batteries that have high power capability, high energy density, and long (dis)charge cycling life-time, and also to develop the technologies for commercial lithium ion battery fabrication. The current achievements of our group are that we have found electrode materials that could be applied in high power density battery fabrication. The batteries could be (dis)charged within 6 to 8 minutes. Previous high rate batteries from our cooperation partner have been out ported to Germany, Belgie, and Britain and installed on buses as their power sources. Our continuing work would be to design/discovery new electrode materials for high performance lithium ion battery fabrication and let electric vehicles more welcome in the future.

2004年入选“新世纪百千****才工程”国家级人选和教育部“新世纪优秀人才计划”，2005年获国务院政府特殊贡献津贴，2007获中国侨联科技创新人才奖。多次荣获湖南省优秀硕士学位论文指导老师。
