周栋，博士、教授、博士生导师，湖南省人才计划入选者，湘潭市、湖南科技大学高层次人才。硕士毕业于英国约克大学，博士毕业于英国诺丁汉大学。曾在爱尔兰都柏林大学圣三一学院担任Research Fellow。在国内外学术期刊和学术会议上发表和录用论文90余篇。多次受邀担任顶级国际会议的程序委员会成员和国际学术期刊的审稿人。主持国家自然科学基金项目2项，省部级及其他项目多项。获得国家发明专利及软件著作权二十余项，指导学生获得省级以上项目、奖励多项。
目前为美国计算机学会高级会员(ACM Senior Member), 中国计算机学会(CCF)高级会员, 中国中文信息学会会员, CCF计算机应用专委会委员, CCF中文信息技术专委会委员、青年工作委员会委员, 中国中文信息学会社会媒体处理专委会委员，CCF青年计算机科技论坛(YOCSEF)长沙分论坛AC委员。曾担任CCF YOCSEF长沙分论坛学术秘书、副主席。


多说一点：
本人长期从事自然语言处理、人工智能方面的研究，成果寥寥，但是十分热爱研究，我希望申请加入我课题组的学生跟我志同道合，具有以下基本素养：
（1）态度；
（2）热情；
（3）具有一定的英语、数学和编程基础。
课题组的主要感兴趣的研究方向为人工智能、自然语言处理、信息检索（主要为多语言与多模态）、社会媒体与社会计算、大数据处理及机器学习等，招收的硕士生不区分专硕与学硕。对有志于攻读硕士或博士学位的同学，请尽早与我联系，特别欢迎未来有意愿攻读博士或从事科学研究的同道中人。
我希望加入我课题组的学生能够在人生的某一阶段从事高水平的科学研究，只在《中国计算机学会推荐国际学术会议和期刊目录》和一流的中英文学术期刊会议上发表经得住时间考验的学术成果，在硕士及博士期间做真正有国际影响力的工作，不以追求垃圾会议论文、SCI、EI论文的数量作为自己的浅薄理想与追求。一旦你加入课题组，在校期间的培养我会根据你个性化的需求来商量制定。
