1961年3月出生,研究员,中科院生态系统研究网络东湖湖泊生态系统试验站(国家重点野外台站)前站长,CERN水体分中心主任,中国湿地生态系统观测研究野外站联盟盟长。
1989年于日本筑波大学生物系生物学专业获理学博士学位; 1998年入选中国科学院“百人计划”。1999年获第九届日本生态学琵琶湖奖Biwako Prize for Ecology(国际奖)。2003年获国家杰出青年基金(富营养型浅水湖泊藻类水华爆发及产毒机制的研究)资助。2004年入选新世纪国家百千万人才工程。
现担任Ecological Research (SCI源刊)编委、Limnology(SCI源刊)顾问编委以及湖泊科学(中文核心期刊)、水生态学杂志副主编。曾任湖北省人民政府参事。共发表SCI源刊论文280余篇,CSCD论文70余篇,出版专著7部。发表的论著被SCI论文他引3100余次,h指数29。
研究方向:湖泊生态学(水体富营养化、浮游动植物生态学、食物网结构和功能),蓝藻水华的发生机制和控制技术,蓝藻毒素的化学、生态与分子毒理学(物理化学性质、纯化、生态毒理、分子毒理),蓝藻毒素的代谢及对水产品安全的影响,异味物质的化学生态学。
