主要承担本科生“贝类养殖学”、“贝类养殖学实验”课程和硕士研究生“细胞与遗传高级讲座”课程。
科研方向为贝类遗传育种、养殖技术和渔业资源与海洋生态修复等，在海水珍珠贝领域的研究成果尤为出色，培育出我国第一个海水珍珠贝新品种，马氏珠母贝“海优1号”（ 品种登记号：GS-02-002-2011）；主持或参与国家自然科学基金项目7项、国家重点基础研究发展计划（973计划）课题2项、国家高技术发展计划（863计划）专项课题3项、科技部国际科技合作专项3项、科技部农业成果转化基金项目2项、教育部科技重点项目1项以及海南省重点科技计划项目1项等；获发明专利授权12项，发表论文80多篇（其中SCI收录22篇）。多项成果通过鉴定，获得海南省和广东省科技进步二等奖各1项。
