李大庆，男，1962年10月出生。1982年毕业于武汉地质学院地质系地层古生物专业，获学士学位；之后相继在中国地质大学（北京）攻读古生物学与地层学硕士和博士，获理学硕士（1989）和博士学位（2009）。2000年获国土资源部教授级高级工程师职称。2008年和2014年赴美国宾夕法尼亚大学短期访学。社会兼职主要有国土资源部国家古生物化石专家委员会委员，中国地质大学（北京）兼职教授，博士生导师，甘肃恐龙博物馆名誉馆长。
取得的主要成绩包括：在中生代古脊椎动物研究方面，1999年在甘肃永靖县发现恐龙足印群，2002年以来在甘肃省内三个中生代盆地发现和研究（合作）命名了兰州龙、黎明角龙、黄河巨龙、肃州龙、大夏巨龙、雄关龙、北山龙、金塔龙、桥湾龙、叙五龙、洮河龙等恐龙，使甘肃成为世界恐龙学研究的重要地区。独立和合作发表学术论文30余篇。在地质遗迹保护方面，主持完成了敦煌雅丹地貌、刘家峡恐龙和和政古生物化石三个国家地质公园以及玉门硅化木、肃北公婆泉恐龙和天祝雪山峡谷三个省级地质公园的调查和申报工作。所发现的恐龙标本代表中国和甘肃省赴日本、台湾和香港进行了展览。目前正从事甘肃白银地区侏罗纪恐龙动物群研究。
