1998年获博士学位。2000-2004年,为美国加州大学洛杉矶分校（UCLA）医学院，Cedars-Sinai医学中心博士后。2005年和2011年分别晋升为Cedars-Sinai医学中心研究员(Scientist),助教授（AssistantProfessor）和UCLA医学院副教授（Adj.AssociateProfessor）。2011年底回国，在中山大学孙逸仙纪念医院工作，任研究员和医研中心主任。从事肿瘤转化医学（TranslationalMedicine）。以临床前期（pre-clinical）的肿瘤分子和细胞生物学研究为主。研究内容包括：1、肿瘤染色体组/基因组学研究；2)肿瘤分子诊断与分子分型研究；3）基因甲基化和组蛋白去乙酰化对基因表达的影响及与肿瘤的关系；4）寻找新的致癌和抑癌基因及其研究生物学功能；5）新型小分子药物抗癌机理研究等。共发表SCI论文30余篇，其中16篇第一作者和通信作者论文。

研究内容与临床紧密结合，利用先进分子生物和细胞生学技术，做了大量的基因和蛋白有关的工作，通过对比正常样本和肿瘤样本，筛选和鉴定与肿瘤发生有关的新基因，领导课题组就发现的肿瘤相关基因并展开深入研究。制定标准实验程序，总结实验结果，撰写论文发表在有影响的国际杂志上。应邀为许多国际学术杂志审稿和在大型国际会议上作学术演讲。

还同国际著名大型制药公司合作，对新型小分子药物进行了体外和体内的抗肿瘤研究。其中包括两个近年获得FDA批准的药物：SuberoylanilideHydroxamicAcid(SAHA)(商品名ZOLINZA,组蛋白去乙酰化抑制剂，来自Merck&Co.,Inc.)和PS-341(商品名Velcade，蛋白酶体抑制剂，来自MillenniumPharmaceuticals)。两篇论文分别发表在ClinicalCancerResearch和Oncogene。
