主要成果:
主持中国国家自然基金项目(NSFC)、美国国立卫生研究院(National Institutes of Health, NIH)、美-加国际合作五大湖渔业委员会(The Great Lakes
Fishery Commission,GFLC)、中国国家攻关项目、科技部重点研发项目、农业部重点项目等科研项目。作为主要参与者参与国际科学基金(International Foundation
for Science,IFS)项目 1 项、中国国家自然基金项目 7 项,中国 863 项目 2 项,美国路易斯安娜州鱼类与野生生物署项目 1 项、及其它省部级项目约 15 项。获福
建省科学技术奖二等奖 1 项。在水产动物缺氧/高温应激机制开展了一系列的研究,首次发现鱼类的缺氧诱导型 GLUT、PI3K-AKT
通路参与鲍的缺氧/高温的免疫抑制等。在水产动物生殖生物学开展了多年的系列研究,率先证实传统认为是管家蛋白的核糖体蛋白基因在对虾雌雄生殖腺差异表达等。已发表研究论文 160 余篇(其中 SCI 收录
60 余篇),多篇论文获中国水产学会等多个学术组织的奖励,其中获福建省自然科学优秀论文一等奖 1 项。是 20
多个国际英文期刊,及哈萨克斯坦科学基金等多个国际科学基金组织的评审专家。教育部高等学校水产类专业教学指导委员会委员,福建省动物学会常务理事,福建省水产原良种评审委员会委员。

Research interests:

Prof. Zhang received his Ph.D. from the City University of Hong Kong. He completed his postdoctoral
training from the Michigan State University. He spent four years in the Texas State University as a
Research Assistant Professor, two years in the Seton Hall University as a Tenure Track Assistant
Professor, and two and a half years in the New York State University of Agriculture and Technology
as a Tenure Track Assistant Professor. Now he is a Specifically Appointed Professor of Fujian
Agriculture and Forestry, Leading University Professor of Fujian Province. Dr. Zhang is also a
council member of the Teaching Steering committee of Aquatic Specialty in Colleges and Universities
of the Ministry of Education, executive Director of Fujian Zoological Society, a council member of
the committee of Aquatic Genetics Resources and Aquatic Breeding of Fujian Province.
Dr. Zhang has received more than twenty research grants from the National Natural Science
Foundation of China (NSFC), the National Key Research and Development Project of China, the
National Institutes of Health (NIH, USA), the Great Lakes Fisheries Commission (GLFC, USA

& Canada), and other agencies. He has published over 160 peer-reviewed articles and received
several academic awards from various academic organizations such as the Chinese Fisheries Society.
His research demonstrated that spike structure of the shrimp sperm, previously described as a tail
in many text books, was the acrosome of the sperm de facto. His manuscript from this work was
awarded “excellent article” by the Chinese Society of Fisheries. He is the one who identified the
first hypoxia responsive glucose transporter from fish, and demonstrated that the ribosomal protein
L24 which was traditionally believed as a house-keeping gene was differentially expressed between
the testis and ovary of shrimp.
Dr. Zhang has a lot of experience to review academic articles that were submitted to top journals
in the field, to review research proposals that were submitted to NIH, NSFC, National Centre of
Science and Technology Evaluation of Kazakhstan, and other scientific foundations. He has also been
servicing as a technical consultant to provide professional guidance for the industry for many
years.
