Stefan Olsson, Docent, Ph.D. is professor and doctoral supervisor. The research field of Prof. Olsson concerns how fungi and bacteria react to each other. He is generally interested in the molecular mechanisms all organism use to, detect, co-operate with, try to hide from, and cheat each other, as well as the general and species specific mechanisms they regulate to be prepared for these different forms of confrontations with other organisms. There appear to be several general themes in these interactions which make Fungal-Bacterial interactions a potential model for other Eukaryote-Bacterial interactions. Prof. Olsson is well connected in the newly formed international network of researchers working with Fungal-Bacterial interactions and has recently published a book chapter on “Ecology and evolution of Fungal-Bacterial Interactions” together with leading researchers in the field. International graduate students for MS and PhD degree in the fields of Plant Pathology, Microbiology and Molecular Biology are welcome to study in his lab.
