尤民生，博士、教授、博士生导师，昆虫学科带头人，农业部闽台作物有害生物综合治理重点实验室主任，兼任中国昆虫学会理事，教育部高等学校农林科类（植物生产与草业科学）教学指导委员会委员，福建省昆虫学会名誉理事长，福建省农学会副会长，福建省昆虫学重点学科委员会主任，《生物安全学报》主编，《昆虫学报》和《应用昆虫学报》编委等。
主要从事小菜蛾功能基因组和有害生物综合治理研究。先后培养博士后14人，博士生45人，硕士生130人，主持国家科技部“973”项目专题2项、科技部国际合作项目和重大基础研究前期专项各1项、国家发改委高技术产业化项目1项、农业部公益性行业科研专项1项，农业部“948”项目2项，农业部转基因生物新品种培育科技重大专项专题2项，国家自然科学基金8项（包括重点和国际合作）、福建省自然科学基金重点项目1个、福建省“八五”攻关项目1个，参与主持加拿大国际发展暑（CIDA）国际合作项目2个。30多年来围绕农作物安全生产与环境保护这一国家重大需求，率领团队在小菜蛾等重要害虫灾变机理和生态控制的理论研究与创新、技术研发与集成、产业化示范工程与应用方面做出了突出成绩。主办“国际昆虫分子生态学与害虫治理大会”、“首届国际生物入侵大会”、“国际生物多样性与害虫生态控制学术研讨会”、“第一届全国生物入侵大会”等，并特邀作大会报告或主持大会。科研成果获国家科技进步二等奖1项，福建省科技重大贡献奖1项，省科技进步一等奖1项，二等奖4项、三等奖1项，省标准贡献奖一等奖1项，获云南省科技进步特等奖1项，广东省高教厅科技进步三等奖1项，湖南省自然科学三等奖1项，在国内外学术刊物上发表学术论文200余篇，出版全国性教材2部、学术专著3部，授权国家发明专利12项，地方标准4项。教学成果获“福建省教学成果一等奖”。先后获得“全国优秀教师”、“福建省高校优秀中青年骨干教师”、“全国优秀农业科技工作者”、“福建省优秀科技工作者”称号，及“福建省普通高校优秀青年教师”“伊发达”奖；1996年入选国家“百千****才工程”第一、二层次，享受政府特殊津贴；2008年被加拿大Dahousie University授予荣誉博士学位，2009年获福建省杰出科技人才，2011获年福建省高校领军人才，2014年全国杰出专业技术人才，2015年获何梁何利基金科学与技术进步奖，带领团队获“十一五”国家科技计划执行优秀团队奖，第九届福建青年五四奖章集体。
