陈通,男,湖北武汉人。西南大学电子信息工程学院副教授,IEEE Member, 中国宇航学会光电技术专业委员会委员。主要从事信号处理,高光谱成像,及情感计算方向的研究。研究内容包括生理信号的非接触式远程测量,基于光谱视觉的目标识别,特定情感状态下人类面部的图像及光谱特性分析及情感识别。研究服务领域包括生物医学工程(生理信号远程测量)、国防安全(光谱目标识别)、人机交互及社会公共安全(情感识别)。研究成果曾被香港、英国等媒体报道。博士阶段曾兼职于英国InnoveTech Systems公司,熟悉高光谱成像系统软硬件结构,完成两套高光谱成像系统的改进与组装,熟悉产品从算法设计到工业制备的各个环节。

主要承担电路原理、数字电路、信号与系统、数字信号处理、DSP处理器及应用、专业英语等课程的教学任务

Investigator, developing robust and real-time algorithm for generating tissue oxygen saturation (StO2), investigating facial StO2 patterns under affective states, and investigating the relationship between HR response and StO2 response to affective states.

Remote Sensing Human Emotions Using StO2 (China Ministry of Education, [CNY300,000]): Principle Investigator, selecting optimized wavelength for generating StO2, investigating facial StO2 patterns under two kinds of emotions, and extracting features for discriminating the two emotions.

Remote sensing human physiological signals based on hyperspectral imaging techniques in real time Sensing (UK MOD): Dr. Yuen was the PI. My work focused on developing algorithm to produce StO2, detecting stress using hyperspectral imaging technique.

Research on Emotion Interaction between Human and Computer Based on Physiological Signal (China MOE, [CNY 1M]): Prof Liu was the PI. My work focused on investigating the techniques that can be used for remote sensing physiological signals, and developing algorithms for remote measuring the signals.

“情感计算”是什么 (Introduction to Affective Computing)

“海上生明月,天涯共此时。情人怨遥夜,竟夕起相思。”脍炙人口的诗句向我们描述了雄浑壮阔的场景。而诗句传达的对远方亲人深挚的思念之情更能引起我们的共鸣。在阅读这些诗的过程中,诗句是信息的载体,情感是信息的附着物。作为人类,我们在交换信息的同时,也在传递着情感。缺乏情感的信息交互是冰冷的交互。

不幸的是,人类都在被迫地接受越来越多的冰冷的交互——和计算机交互:工作、学习占据了我们大量的时间和精力,计算机是我们“亲密”的战友;没有人陪伴的周末,我们只能面对计算机打发时间;在可以预见的即将到来的机器人时代,我们面对的也是装备计算机大脑的机器人的服务。

人们并不满足于与冰冷的机器之间的简单的信息交互。拥有能理解人类情感并能作出积极的情感回应的智能计算机是人类一直以来的梦想。

实现人类的梦想,始终是科技创新的原动力。赋予计算机情感交互的能力逐渐成为许多学者感兴趣的话题,并逐步形成了新的研究方向——情感计算。“计算机一旦被赋予了类人式的情感,其性质就发生了根本性变化,它从此就具有了独立的人格、自控的行为、自主的决策、创新的思维和自由的意志,这将必然会对人类社会的各个方面产生深刻的影响。”
