1977年回国服务，任职中国科学院化学所，副研究员，研究员，博士生导师。
1995年转任清华大学物理系。
1989年11月—1990年7月，香港浸会学院化学系，访问。讲授物理化学，分子光谱学。
1998-1999 清华大学高等研究中心客座研究员。
1999年1月—6月, 台湾中央大学物理系访问教授。
