Abstract:When the highly-intensive and highly-directional white light from pulsed fiber laser is focused into water, many directional and colorful rings, coherent rainbows, are observed. The laser generates bubbles with similar sizes in the water, which serve as scatters. The intensive light leads to spatial self-phase modulation and thus generates the coherent rainbows. Such a phenomenon has been observed in many kinds of liquids.
